A little bit

about DYAD

documentary wedding & lifestyle  photography in ottawa & quebec city

I'm Yves, the photographer and founder of Dyad Imagery. My work is rooted in observation and patience, allowing me to document stories honestly and naturally, with as little interference as possible. I believe magic lives in the quiet imperfections of everyday life, and in the moments that unfold naturally when no one is trying too hard.

Life rarely follows a perfect script, and that is exactly what makes it beautiful. As Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.”

The name Dyad comes from the idea of two elements that naturally complement each other. In life, there is always two ways of seeing things: a grounded pragmatic view based on what is there, and a more romantic one view where we see the authentic narrative of moments.  Together, these perspectives create balance.

Behind the name also lives the personal story that shaped it. I met my wife many years ago at work, where hallway conversations slowly turned into lunches, and eventually into a love story. Nineteen years later, we still share that same balance of perspectives. I can say that I am lucky to have found my soulmate.

Outside of photography, life is filled with family, friends, too many hobbies, a slightly dark sense of humour, and a house slowly filling with plants that somehow keep surviving.

When I look at the heart of it, it all comes down to a fascination with human connection. The emotions people share, the perfect imperfect beauty of everyday moments. Having the privilege to witness and document those moments is something I will never take for granted.

lauren + eric

From our first meeting, to our engagement shoot to our wedding day, we knew we would be in great hands. You really have an eye for details, and we trusted your vision completely. You made everyone feel entirely at ease with your kind and easygoing personality and professionalism. We felt like you were so prepared the whole day, you always kept us on track and kept things moving for family photos. We felt very comfortable all day and we were excited to try new things with you, and seriously cannot wait to see how the photos turned out. We just cannot say enough good things!

Absolutely incredible...

anne + nathan

You came in and offered us comfort, joy, and flexibility. In the end, I am so glad that we went with you. The quality of your service and the beauty of the images was beyond what we could have expected. You also somehow provided the moral support we didn't even know we needed and we are so grateful. We also loved working with bilingual folks who made our family feel very comfortable. We were so excited to hang your work in our home and we will cherish the images and memories forever.

i can't say enough good things about them...
